Belly Gazing

For a couple of weeks now I have started to feel distinct baby movements, little 'flutters' as they are often referred to and lately little thuds and pokes. So last night as I was settling into bed, doing some last minute reading I felt some of these movements. I was not startled because I have grown accustomed to inner belly massage. However, there I was reading along when I felt something harder, almost as if it made my stomach move on the outside. I put the book down and started intently staring at my stomach. My husband walked in the room and noticed the look of deep concentration on my face. He asked me what was going on and I so I told him.

"I swear my stomach just moved!"

So we both sat there just staring at my belly for like five minutes when all of a sudden ... boop ... a little bulge appeared on one side and then quickly disappeared!

We both started yelling.

"DID YOU SEE THAT!?!"

"OH MY GOD I SAW THAT!!!"

And there we had it, our first visible baby poke. Breathtaking!

Now, I am obsessed with staring at my belly and watching for movements, naturally a first, because really how many women do you know who would otherwise willing spend this much time just looking at their stomachs and waiting for them to get bigger!

So my new hobby is officially ... belly gazing and my belly never looked so good!

Ooh that is so cute! Cat and I used to belly stare for hours, though near the end, anyone across the room could see my stomach changing shape, even under my shirt!

And sometimes, when the baby was quiet for a few hours, I would worry and give the tummy a poke --and it would poke back. Try it, it's fun!

Becoming a mother is a miracle and a precious gift. I am so very happy for you guys.
